The Justice Department is considering whether to submit a legal review opinion as the Constitutional Court is 10 days away from hearing the impeachment case against President Yoon Suk Yeol.
The Justice Department said it has been asked by the Constitutional Court to submit a legal review opinion on the impeachment trial of President Yoon Suk Yeol and is considering whether to submit it.
Submission of opinions is not mandatory, but is used as a reference for the Constitutional Court hearing process.
Earlier, Justice Minister Park Sung-jae was suspended after the impeachment motion was passed by the National Assembly over allegations of involvement in martial law, and like President Yoon, he is awaiting a trial by the Constitutional Court.
During the 2016 impeachment trial of former President Park Geun Hye, he submitted a 40-page opinion.
