The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has released exhibition contents to citizens to be built inside the former Jeonnam Provincial Office of the May 18 Last Uprising, which is undergoing restoration work.
The restored interior of the former Jeonnam Provincial Office will be designed for each of six spaces and will be decorated as a place to inherit the spirit of May 18, such as introducing in detail the process of the uprising that resisted national violence.
It is also considering quoting some of the contents of the novel "The Boy Is Coming," which was written against the backdrop of May 18 by Han Kang, who received the Nobel Prize for literature for the first time in Korea.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to produce and install exhibition contents of the former Jeonnam Provincial Government with the aim of completing them in October next year, and plans to officially open them in 2026 after a pilot operation.
