The public's power, which has been vacant for three days since the resignation of former CEO Han Dong-hoon, continues to struggle over the appointment of the emergency committee chairman.
Floor leader Kwon Sung-dong met with reporters after the emergency assembly and said he will collect opinions from each player, including first-term, second-term, and third-term, and receive recommendations from the emergency committee chairman.
When asked why the collection of opinions is delayed, he said that he is reluctant to tell each other who is suitable as the chairman of the emergency committee, adding that it will take some time to gather opinions for each player in the future.
Kim Dae-sik, a senior spokesman for the floor, also explained that there was a consensus that it should be a floor leader for now, and one or two people were mentioned, but they decided to form a candidate recommendation committee because the final agreement was not reached.
Joo Ho-young, a sixth-term lawmaker and vice-chairman of the National Assembly, was reportedly mentioned as candidates at a closed general meeting of lawmakers.
Senior lawmakers in the party, including Kwon Young-se, Kim Ki-hyun, and Na Kyung-won, are also considered strong candidates, while floor leader Kwon is also being discussed as chairman of the emergency committee.
