In 1980, a Mass was held to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the death of the late Kim Sa-bok, a real person in the movie "Taxi Driver" set in the Gwangju May 18 Democratic Movement.

More than 100 people, including the deceased's bereaved family and believers, attended the Mass at Pungamun-ri Cathedral in Gwangju to honor Kim's courage and will.

The late Kim Sabok, a hotel taxi driver at the time of May 18, guided Jürgen Hintzpeter, a German public broadcaster correspondent, to Gwangju to help cover the site.

The video filmed at this time was distributed across the country under the name of 'Gwangju Video', and later became a catalyst for the 'June Uprising' in 1987.
