The Gyeonggi Provincial Council has finished its last regular session of the year without being able to deal with next year's budget bill.
The provincial council planned to hold a plenary session today (19th), the last day of the second regular session, to vote on next year's main budget, this year's second supplementary budget, and the ordinance bill, but the agenda was not even presented.
As the ruling and opposition parties were at odds over the resignation of Kim Jong-seok, the plenary session was closed in about 50 minutes after only the five-minute speech schedule of six provincial lawmakers.
Earlier on the 27th of last month, the Democratic Party of Korea and the People's Power included in the agreement to normalize the schedule, saying, "We will try to pass next year's main budget at the plenary session on December 19, but friction continued as the position was divided over the resignation of Secretary-General Kim, who was discussed as a prerequisite.
Chairman Kim Jin-kyung, a member of the Democratic Party, claimed that Kim promised to resign, but Kim Jung-ho, the representative of People's Power, actually promised to resign.
Since Kim expressed his resignation on the 27th of last month, he has not submitted his resignation on sick leave until now.
The two parties are expected to hold a one-point extraordinary meeting by the end of this month to present these agendas as they have been criticized for failing to deal with urgent agendas for people's livelihoods, including next year's main budget bill.
