Prosecutors investigating allegations that violent detectives participated in the "major figure arrest group" on the day of martial law have launched a forced investigation into the police and the Ministry of National Defense.
The special investigation headquarters of the prosecution's emergency martial law is conducting a search and seizure today (19th) against the investigation planning coordinator's office of the National Investigation Headquarters, Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul, and officials from the Ministry of National Defense's investigation headquarters.
The prosecution suspects that since the declaration of the emergency martial law on the night of the 3rd, the Defense Security Command has contacted the National Defense Headquarters for the so-called "arrest assistance" activities, and that the actual police have deployed personnel.
Earlier, the special prosecution summoned Kang Sang-moon, the chief of the Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station, Yoon Seung-young, the investigation planning coordinator of the National Assembly, and Jeon Chang-hoon, the investigation planning officer.
The counterintelligence agency is suspected of attempting to arrest key political figures, including National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik, Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung, and People's Power leader Han Dong-hoon at the time of the emergency martial law.
