The Jungang Line Railway, which runs from Seoul to Busan via Wonju, Jecheon, and Gyeongju, will be reborn as a double-track subway for all sections and will start operating tomorrow (20th).
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport held a ceremony to open a double-track subway line at Andong Station in North Gyeongsang Province this afternoon, attended by about 300 local governments, lawmakers, railway officials and residents.
The Jungang Line, which opened in 1942, started with Cheongnyang-ri-Deokso in 2010 and completed the double-track electrification project between Dodam and Yeongcheon, the last section.
Starting tomorrow, KTX-Ieum will operate six round trips a day between Cheongnyang-ri, Ulsan, and Busan, and ITX-Mind will operate four round trips a day, replacing the existing Mugunghwa.
