"Britain considers sending troops to the region to train Ukra forces"

2024.12.19 PM 07:20
British Defense Secretary John Healy has hinted at the possibility of sending British troops to Ukraine for training.

Healy, who visited Ukraine today (19th), told The Times that military training should be made more appropriate for the needs of Ukrainians, and that they should work together to make it accessible, to recruit more recruits and to motivate them.

Asked if it meant expanding Ukrainian boot camp locally, which is currently taking place in the UK, he said: "We will look at anything that can respond to what Ukraine wants."

In response, The Times interpreted it as suggesting that British troops may be sent to Ukraine for training.

Citing defense sources, the BBC also reported that Britain's Ministry of Defence is considering the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine to help train Ukrainian forces.

Britain has been training tens of thousands of Ukrainian troops on British soil, with a handful of army medics supporting them in Ukraine.

NATO is keeping a red line that provides weapons to Ukraine but does not send troops to avoid direct clashes with Russia.
