Trump's biggest diplomatic interest is to end the war in Ukraine.
A special envoy for negotiations to end the war in Ukraine plans to visit Europe early next month.
Before Trump takes office, he will visit Ukraine, Italy and France to investigate the facts surrounding the war.
[Donald Trump / U.S. President-elect] Well, we'll see. We will also speak to President Putin, to President Zelensky and to the representatives of Ukraine. We need to stop the war. This is carnage.
Former White House WMD Coordinator Gary Seymour predicted that Trump is willing to resume diplomacy with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, but not a priority.
Andrew Yeo, the Korean chair of Brookings Research Institute, also pointed out that conditions must be prepared first for the North Korea-U.S. dialogue.
The start of negotiations over the end of the war in Ukraine is expected to serve as a springboard for U.S.-North Korea dialogue.
During the negotiation process, talks can also take place naturally with North Korea, which has sent soldiers to Russia.
[Donald Trump / U.S. President-elect] We shouldn't be allowed to shoot missiles at Russia from 200 miles away. It was a bad thing and it attracted North Korea. I think Chairman Kim Jong-un and I get along very well. I'm the only one like that.]
Experts say that South Korea's role is not large regardless of when the North Korea-US dialogue takes place.
Daniel Snyder, a professor of East Asian studies at Stanford University, says he is 100% confident that the Trump administration will not go through any channels in South Korea.
In particular, he claimed that the Trump administration distrusted South Korea very much because of his experience during his first term in office.
Trump also added that he would not disclose information transparently to anyone, including South Korea.
In addition, he pointed out that the growing political uncertainty caused by Korea's recent impeachment is also complicating the situation.
