Lee Ki-heung, chairman of the Korea Sports Council and IOC member, whose duties are currently suspended at the request of the government's investigation, will officially declare a "three-term challenge" on the 23rd.

Chairman Lee announced that he will have a "conversation time" with journalists regarding his election candidacy at 2:30 p.m. next Monday at the Olympic Parktel in Bangi-dong, Seoul.

In particular, he stressed that he will frankly reveal various suspicions that have been revealed so far through question-and-answer with journalists.

Chairman Lee, who has been the head of the sports association since 2016, has been on the list of prosecutors and police investigations on various charges such as hiring, embezzlement, and malpractice of employees, but he has challenged his third consecutive term by appealing his innocence.

Chairman Lee recently told some media that a high-ranking government official urged him not to run for the chairman of the sports association, proposing other positions such as the president of the Korea Freedom Federation.

With seven candidates to stand up against Chairman Lee Ki-heung, discussions on the unification of the opposition are also underway ahead of the registration of candidates scheduled for the 24th-25th.

If you want to run for the 42nd sports president on January 14th next year, you have to pay 70 million won in deposit, and you can only get your money back if you win or die, or if you get more than 20% of the vote.
