Are the ruling and opposition parties at odds over a "consultative body" to deal with the political situation?

Kwon Sung-dong "participation in the ruling and opposition parties' consultative body...Chairman Wu's proposal"
Instead of proposing Lee Jae-myung's state council, emphasis was placed on 'Chairman Woo's proposal'
The ruling and opposition parties raised the prospect of a "battle between the two sides" over the consultative body.

As the people's power formalizes the participation of the ruling, opposition, and government consultative body to resolve the chaos in state affairs, discussions on the formation of an actual consultative body are expected to begin soon.

However, in the process of coordinating participants and agendas, there are voices of concern that the ruling and opposition parties may waste time fighting a flag fight.

Reporter Lee Jun-yeop reports.

On the day of the poll, which showed the biggest gap in approval ratings with the Democratic Party, Kwon Sung-dong, acting chairman and floor leader of the People's Power Party, announced his participation in the ruling and opposition parties' consultative body for people's livelihoods and security.

He added that he accepted the proposal of National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik, not the Democratic Party of Korea.

[Kwon Sung-dong / Floor Leader of People's Power (last 20th): The Democratic Party of Korea proposed it, but it was proposed by the National Assembly Speaker. I would like to say that the Speaker of the National Assembly first proposed it and decided to participate in the consultation process with the Speaker of the National Assembly.

He stressed that he did not respond to the "National Stability Consultative Body" that Lee Jae-myung asked to participate in, but some say that Chairman Woo and Representative Lee's proposal are not very different.

[Lee Jae-myung / Representative of the Democratic Party of Korea (last 15th): We propose the formation of a "National Stability Consultative Body" with the National Assembly and the government]

[Won-Sik Woo / Speaker of the National Assembly (last 15th): Forming a national consultative body between the National Assembly and the government....]

Therefore, the interpretation that it is a harbinger of the ruling and opposition parties' "sabat fight" over the future consultative body is supported.

First of all, within the power of the people, the atmosphere that the floor leaders of the ruling and opposition parties and the speaker of the National Assembly want to be the center of the consultative body can be read.

Representative Lee Jae-myung cannot easily give up the appearance of leading the settlement of the political situation.

The Democratic Party of Korea is in a position to respond after receiving specific proposals from the ruling party.

As representative Lee mentioned earlier that he could also yield the initiative, he plans to leave open the room for negotiations.

However, there is a possibility that acting Kwon will not back down, saying that the form of "the ruling and opposition parties" that he has mentioned all along presupposes participation in the party's leadership.

Chairman Woo believes that it is important for the ruling and opposition parties and the government to sit at the same table, but there can be considerable pain in the working-level consultation for this purpose over the participants, format, and agenda.

If the fight between the ruling and opposition parties becomes a reality in the process of forming a consultative body, it will be difficult to avoid criticism that the main purpose of "overcoming the national crisis" has faded.
