2024.12.26 AM 06:14
The impact of avian influenza in the United States has caused egg prices to soar, putting a strain on the household economy.

The New York Times reported that egg prices, which have soared since last month, are rising more steeply at the end of the year when egg consumption is high.

Citing data from market research companies, the newspaper said the average wholesale price of eggs rose more than 180% from a year ago as of the 19th and 18% from a week ago.The surge in egg prices

is due to avian influenza spreading in the United States, and 65 cases have been reported this year, spreading to hundreds of farms and spreading to humans.

On top of that, the salmonella epidemic in the United States also affected egg supply, and eggs sold at Costco stores in five states, including Alabama and Georgia, were recalled.
