Sales of the Korean nuclear power industry are expected to exceed 32 trillion won in 2023, the highest ever.
Sales of the domestic nuclear power industry reached 21.6 trillion won in 2021 and 25.4 trillion won in 2022.
The Korea Atomic Energy Industry Association said at today's Nuclear Energy New Year's greeting session that the sales of the Korean nuclear industry are expected to reach a new record high of 32 trillion won in 2023.
The association analyzed that it reached an all-time high in March 2023 thanks to the signing of a contract for the Shin Hanul Unit 3 and 4 cycles and winning an order for Egypt's Eldaba construction project in August 2022.
In addition, sales of the domestic nuclear power plant industry in 2024 are expected to have grown further due to the full-fledged construction of Shin Hanul units 3 and 4 and orders for the construction of tritium removal facilities in nuclear power plants compared to Cherna, Romania.
The Korea Atomic Energy Industry Association investigates and announces annual sales and investment trends in the nuclear power industry under the Nuclear Promotion Act, and the results of the 2023 survey will be officially announced early this year.
Choi Nam-ho, the second vice minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, who attended the New Year's greeting ceremony, said, "Let's focus our public and private capabilities to ensure that nuclear power plants are firmly trusted by the people by continuing efforts to strengthen the safety of nuclear power plants and expanding communication with the public."
