The strong cold wave that began yesterday broke the low temperature this morning in most parts of the country.

However, as the wind weakens today, the cold feeling is expected to be less than yesterday.

Snow on the west coast, which has continued for five days, is expected to continue until Sunday.

I'm connecting with the reporter. Reporter Kim Minkyung!

It was very cold this morning, and the wind is much weaker than yesterday?

[Reporter]
Temperatures were lower this morning than yesterday as a strong chill fell yesterday and 'radio-cooling' was added overnight.

The morning temperature in Seoul was minus 12.2 degrees Celsius, 2 degrees lower than yesterday,
Most inland areas, including minus 23.2 degrees Celsius, minus 18.4 degrees Celsius in Paju, minus 12.9 degrees Celsius in Daejeon, and minus 12.2 degrees Celsius in Gochang, recorded their lowest temperatures this winter.

The lowest temperature in the morning was around minus 30 degrees Celsius in the mountains of Gangwon-do and minus 17.3 degrees Celsius in Seoul.

However, as the intensity of the cold wind weakens compared to yesterday, the current wind temperature in Seoul is about 6 degrees higher than the same time yesterday.

At midday, the temperature will rise further, and the daytime temperature in Seoul will be minus 2 degrees Celsius, 4 degrees higher than yesterday's daytime, and 10 degrees higher than this morning.

In particular, the cold that can be felt at minus 5 degrees Celsius, which is about 10 degrees higher than yesterday, is expected to be less cold during the day.

Tomorrow morning in Seoul, the weekend, the temperature is expected to rise gradually to minus 8 degrees Celsius and the daytime temperature is 1 degree Celsius, and the temperature is expected to recover to normal levels on Sunday.

Please also point out the snow situation on the west coast.

[Reporter]
For five days from Monday, a lot of snow poured in Honam and Chungnam, including 36.8cm in Bokheung-myeon, Sunchang, 29.7cm in Seolcheonbong Peak, Muju, and 19.9cm in Jeongeup.

Now, snow is concentrated on the coast and mountains rather than inland, so a heavy snow warning is in effect on Ulleungdo Island and a warning is in effect on Jeju Mountain and Sinan, Jeollanam-do.

The reason for the long snow was that the low pressure in the upper atmosphere stagnated and continued to send cold air down, and the cloud bands that developed through the West Sea continued to enter Chungnam and Honam.

Snow will fall until the morning and then lull for a while during the day, but snow will begin to fall again in the late afternoon as another upper atmospheric trough passes through.

Snow is expected to fall 3 to 8 centimeters on the west coast of North Jeolla Province and 1 to 5 centimeters on inland areas of Honam and the west coast of South Chungcheong Province by Sunday, while 5 to 20 centimeters are also expected in mountainous Jeju and Ulleungdo.

The intensity of the snow will be weaker than it has been in the past five days, but it will continue until Sunday by repeating the strong and weak again this time.

In particular, between tonight and tomorrow morning, there is a possibility that strong snow of 1 to 3 cm per hour will be concentrated on the west coast of Honam, so caution is needed.

As additional snow has been predicted with a lot of snow already piled up, facilities such as barns and greenhouses should be inspected during the day when the snow has stopped to prevent damage.
