The "Reconstitutional Solidarity", which gathered opposition lawmakers, including the Democratic Party of Korea, insisted on a constitutional amendment to shorten the term by two years, saying that they should find an alternative that is more feasible than impeaching the president.
Rep. Park Hong-geun of the Democratic Party of Korea, a member of the Constitutional Coalition, said at a debate held at the National Assembly that the ruling party will also be less burdened by shortening the term of office than the impeachment of the second president.
Hwang Un-ha of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party also stressed that he will prepare for both impeachment and constitutional amendment as a way to end the Yoon Suk Yeol regime early.
