The amendment to the Depositor Protection Act, which calls for raising the deposit protection limit from the current 50 million won to 100 million won, passed the National Assembly's Political Affairs Committee's bill subcommittee with an agreement between the ruling and opposition parties.

The Political Affairs Committee held a subcommittee on the bill and made the decision in accordance with the agreement of the ruling and opposition party's dispute committee chairmen.

The timing of implementation of the amendment will be determined by the Presidential Decree within one year after passing the plenary session and promulgating the bill.
