At the plenary session of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee to ask pending questions about the Japanese Sado mine memorial service, lawmakers from the ruling and opposition parties criticized the government's diplomatic failure.
The People's Power criticized Japan's request to fill the rest of the water cup since we filled half of the water cup in the past history issue at the time of UNESCO's World Heritage List in July, but Japan rather spilled it.
He also mentioned the time when the warship was registered as a World Heritage Site in 2015, pointing out that it was beaten in the same way twice in a row because it relied only on Japan's goodwill.
The Democratic Party of Korea also condemned the process of negotiations for the memorial service as failing both internally and externally, saying that the wrapping paper was a memorial service for Sado Mine, but the contents were no different from a UNESCO-listed ceremony.
He then stressed that the current results are a natural consequence of the government's policy toward Japan, and that changing the basic position of the policy toward Japan will give momentum to develop Korea-Japan relations.
