The Special Act on Support for the 2025 Gyeongju Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit passed the National Assembly plenary session.
The main point of the special law is to support the projects necessary for the preparation and operation of the 32nd APEC Summit to be held in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, from late October to early November next year.
The special law included the establishment of a preparatory committee headed by the Prime Minister and supporting the manpower and budget of the state or local governments.
The special law, proposed by Kim Seok-ki, a member of the People's Power Party with Gyeongju as his constituency, was signed by 191 ruling and opposition lawmakers, including Kim.
