In addition, former auditors urged the Democratic Party of Korea to stop the impeachment of auditor Choi Hae-jin.

Former directors Jeon Yoon-cheol, Kim Hwang-sik, Yang Geon, Hwang Chan-hyun and Choi Jae-hyung issued a statement today (29th) jointly saying they are deeply sorry and concerned about the current state of affairs that is pushing for the impeachment of the Board of Audit and Inspection (BAI) for the first time in constitutional history.

He also explained that the issue of submitting data during the audit of the presidential office and the parliamentary audit was the reason for impeachment, but he pointed out that it is questionable whether this constitutes a serious violation of the constitution and laws.

He then stressed that the constitutional values of independence and political neutrality of the Board of Audit and Inspection must be respected and that the basis of the constitutional order should not be shaken for political reasons and that the Board of Audit and Inspection should not be suspended from its constitutional duties.

In the meantime, the Board of Audit and Inspection convened an emergency meeting with executives of level 4 or higher to prepare for the impeachment of Choi.

The meeting reportedly discussed ways to protect the independence of the Board of Audit and Inspection and to accurately inform the public of the current situation.
