President's Office "damages the foundation of constitutional order" in pursuit of impeachment of Board of Audit and Inspection.

The president's office criticized the Democratic Party of Korea's decision to impeach Choi Hae-soo, the chairman of the Board of Audit and Inspection, by raising suspicions of "poor audits before the presidential residence," as trying to undermine the foundation of the constitutional order.

Chung Hye-jeon, the former spokesman, said in a briefing yesterday (29th) that impeaching the Board of Audit and Inspection (BAI) chairman can only be seen as a political impeachment just because the audit results did not come out to the taste of the opposition party.

Spokesman Chung pointed out that impeaching the headquarters of the Central District Prosecutors' Office is a clear "retaliation impeachment" for the Democratic Party of Korea's push to impeach prosecutors, including Lee Chang-soo, head of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, because the results of the investigation did not come out as the opposition wanted.

He also criticized that the prosecutors who proposed the impeachment motion include those who investigated the suspicion of Daejang-dong involving the opposition leader, which aims to stop the opposition-related investigation and trial and can only be seen as an intention to neutralize the judicial system.

Spokesman Chung said the indiscriminate impeachment of the Board of Audit and Inspection and the prosecution is a political impeachment that violates the constitutional order, and many people are concerned about whether there is a political intention to virtually paralyze the state administration.
