Chairman Woo said, "Democratic earnestness, dedication...a decision led by the people"

National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik evaluated that the desperation, courage and dedication of democracy that the Korean people have shown since the moment the emergency martial law was declared led to the approval of the president's impeachment.

Immediately after the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol was passed at the plenary session of the National Assembly, Chairman Woo said that the decision was based on a solemn pledge to comply with the Constitution as a representative of the people.

The National Assembly then said it will faithfully deal with the Constitutional Court's impeachment trial and speed up the process of appointing vacant constitutional judges.
