Lee Jae-myung proposes a 'national stability council'... "Doesn't impeach Prime Minister Han."

2024.12.15 PM 12:32
Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, proposed the formation of a "national stability consultative body" with the National Assembly and the government as a bipartisan cooperation to normalize state affairs.

Lee said at a press conference at the National Assembly that normalization of the Republic of Korea is urgent, and the Democratic Party will actively cooperate with all political parties to stabilize state affairs and restore international trust.

In addition, Lee drew a line regarding the impeachment drive of Acting President Han Deok-soo, saying that too much impeachment could lead to confusion in state affairs, so he decided not to go through procedures.

He added that he had a brief phone call with acting president Han yesterday, asking him to run the state administration from a neutral standpoint that left the ruling and opposition parties, and that acting president Han readily agreed.

Representative Lee asked the Constitutional Court to expedite the process of dismissing President Yoon, arguing that a quick launch of a special prosecutor is also needed to find out the truth.
