The Democratic Party of Korea has completed the formation of an impeachment committee against the president of Yoon Suk Yeol.
The Democratic Party of Korea said in a notice that Chung Chung-rae, chairman of the Legislative and Judiciary Committee, will be the head of the impeachment and Choi Ki-ki, a lawmaker, will be the secretary and spokesman.
In addition, nine members of the Democratic Party, including Park Beom-gye, Lee Chun-seok, Lee Sung-yoon, and Park Gyun-taek, and 11 members, including Park Eun-jung of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party and Cheon Ha-ram of the New Reform Party, were appointed as members.
Earlier, Yoon Jong-gun, a spokesman for the Democratic Party of Korea, said after a general meeting of lawmakers that he would form an impeachment investigation as he did when former President Park Geun Hye was impeached, but the ruling party reportedly was excluded from the list of members after expressing its intention not to attend.
The impeachment investigation team will participate in the impeachment trial of President Yoon and will take on the role of prosecutor.
