Regarding the Yulhyeon Tunnel between Seoul SRT Suseo Station and Pyeongtaek Jije Station in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do, safety measures centered on some stations were not properly reflected in the regular inspection process.
The Board of Audit and Inspection released a report today (19th) that audited the National Railroad Corporation in connection with the establishment of safety measures for the Yulhyeon Tunnel, pointing out that some of this was missing from the safety analysis of Seongnam Station and Guseong Station.
When the National Railroad established safety measures for the Yulhyeon Tunnel in March 2015, it designated Seongnam Station and Guseong Station, which are exclusive stations for GTX, as safe areas where Suseo High Speed Railway and SRT passengers can get off temporarily and evacuate.
However, the audit found that the agency did not consider the number of SRT passengers evacuated and did not notify the SRT operator of the evacuation simulation results in analyzing the safety of these two stations, calling for caution and action.
