Avian influenza and AI confirmed at a poultry farm in Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do yesterday (24th) were diagnosed as H5N1 type highly pathogenic.
It is the fourth time this year that highly pathogenic AI cases have been discovered, following the East Sea of Gangwon-do, Eumseong of Chungbuk, and Ganghwa of Incheon.
Accordingly, the Central Accident Response Headquarters ordered the temporary suspension of movement of poultry farms and vehicles in Jeollanam-do until 10 p.m. today (25th).
In addition, it was decided to conduct detailed inspection and disinfection at 35 farms within a 10-kilometer radius of the outbreak.
As AI cases have been found on farms that have not registered for livestock breeding, the Central Disease Control Headquarters plans to conduct an investigation on small unregistered farms across the country.
