It was belatedly known that singer Psy's side had seized a luxury villa where he lived in the past due to delinquent fines and was lifted.
According to a Biz Korea report on the 25th, Psy violated the building law twice by unauthorizedly repurposing and expanding some of the luxury villa's generation in the UN Village in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, which was purchased for about 2.2 billion won in September 2008.
In addition, Psy was imposed with enforcement penalties for failing to comply with the order for corrective action for the violating building, but the Yongsan-gu Office seized the house in May because it did not pay it for more than a year. Since then, the seizure was lifted on October 28 when Psy paid the compulsory performance fee.
The seized house was purchased by the Psy couple in September 2008 and lived for 17 years, and it was rented after moving to a new residence in 2020.
Psy reportedly bought a new house worth 10 billion won when the house was seized. I pre-sold my new house in July 2022 and I paid the balance last September to take over ownership. As a result, it is controversial that a large amount of pre-sale payments were prepared in arrears with fines.
Psy's agency, P Nation, explained, "Psy has not made any changes or additions to its use, and has become aware that there was an illegal extension to the building at the time of its initial construction."
"The compulsory implementation fee was only in arrears due to a delay in checking the bill, and is currently paid in full," he said. "We are preparing to recruit construction companies in collaboration with Villa household owners to correct the illegal extension."
