Hyundai Motor will invest 670 billion won in Malaysia and accelerate its efforts to tap into the ASEAN market.
Hyundai Motor plans to expand its production to mid- and large-sized SUVs of Hyundai Motor and Genesis, starting with consignment production of Staria with local partners.
Hyundai said it decided to invest considering the importance of Southeast Asia, which is growing day by day, and Malaysia's annual market of 750,000 units.
The industry interprets that Hyundai Motor may be paying attention to ASEAN as an economic path at a time when the U.S.-China conflict is intensifying due to the election of U.S. President Trump.
