With the global foldable smartphone market growing for the first time in the third quarter, Samsung Electronics regained its No. 1 global market share.
According to data released by market research firm Counterpoint Research, shipments of foldable smartphones, which had been growing for six consecutive quarters, fell 1% in the third quarter.
Counterpoint Research analyzed that the market shrank as Samsung's new Galaxy Z Flip and Fold series sales fell and consumer interest in expensive foldable phones decreased.
Samsung Electronics defeated Huawei, which was ranked first with a 35% global share in the first quarter, and regained the top spot in the global market with a 56% market share in the third quarter.
