Shinsegae Group Chairman Chung Yong-jin told U.S. President-elect Trump that South Korea will quickly normalize into a powerful country, so please trust and wait.

Chairman Chung told reporters on his way home after visiting the U.S., saying Trump's aides expressed interest in the current situation in Korea.

However, he did not specify what kind of conversation he had with Trump.

Chairman Chung, who is also Tesla's No. 1 customer in Korea, also said he met Tesla CEO Elon Musk and said he had a short greeting, but was not interested in the situation in Korea.

When asked if this meeting would serve as a bridge between the two countries, he said he didn't think that far and said he would work hard in his position as a businessman.

At the same time, he said he had not yet been contacted about the invitation to next year's inauguration ceremony, and that he would be willing to comply when a government delegation is set up and a request to participate is received.

Earlier, Chairman Chung visited the Mar-a-Lago resort in the United States, where Trump's home is located, for five nights and six days at the invitation of Trump's eldest son.

Since the U.S. presidential election in November, Chairman Chung is the first to disclose a meeting between Trump and a Korean figure.
