Seoul National University Medical School officials said they have confirmed that applications for leave of absence for the first semester submitted by medical students have been approved collectively as of yesterday (30th).
Unlike the university president, who usually has the authority to approve leave of absence, SNU medical school has the authority to approve it to the dean of the medical school.
A university official said the dean of the medical school seems to have decided to approve the leave of absence without informing the university or professors in advance.
Leave of absence is only approved for the first semester, and applications for leave of absence for the second semester have not been approved.
This is the first time the government has approved the leave of absence after announcing its "no-alliance policy" in relation to the legislative conflict.
