The Korea Employment Information Service said in a research report that analyzed the impact of digital transformation on the Korean industry and employment structure.The
report analyzed that if digital technology innovation and transformation are successful, the size of employment will decrease by 8.5% in five years and by 13.9% in 10 years.
By industry, it is predicted that the decrease in employment will be the largest in the food and lodging industry, as well as in transportation and logistics.
Respondents cited AI as the digital transformation technology that will have the biggest impact on employment in the future, with 18.3% saying they are currently using AI technology.
In addition, 74.2% of research and engineering workers said they would supplement or help, while 63.3% said they would replace people in facilities, maintenance, and production.
The study was conducted on 1,700 businesses in 20 industries in Korea and 300 industry experts.
