Now, the college entrance race will begin in earnest. I'll find out with an expert how to plan the entrance examination strategy. I'm with Woo Yeon-cheol, head of the College Entrance Strategy Research Institute. Please come in. There are a lot of comments saying that the CSAT was easier than last year. How do you evaluate the difficulty level?
[Coincidental]
Compared to the previous year's college entrance exam, I think it's true that it was a little easier overall. But as you know what we need to know here, the previous year's CSAT was really difficult, regardless of Korean, English, and math. So it means that it was relatively easier compared to the previous year, and I think it might be a little too much to say that this year's CSAT was absolutely easy.

The chairman of the questionnaire committee explained yesterday that he excluded killer questions and quasi-killer questions, but was there really no question?
[Coincidental]
Yes. Depending on how the killer question is defined, I think we can interpret the meaning differently whether it is excluded or not. So, in general, the Korea Institute of Evaluation says that killer questions are asked outside the curriculum, and if there is a very complicated calculation problem that cannot be solved without the help of private education, it is a killer question.
On the other hand, what students think is a question with a very low percentage of correct answers. There are cases where people say that this is a killer, a question that is really difficult to solve. Anyway, even from both perspectives, in the previous year, opinions on question 22 in mathematics were really divided. This is a killer. No.
However, such issues seem to have been excluded this year. However, the head of the evaluation center ruled out killer questions and announced that semi-killer questions have been sufficiently filtered this year. However, from that point of view, some of the questions of severe difficulty seem to have been presented in terms of securing discrimination.
[Anchor]
There were some quasi-killers. When the overall difficulty level is lowered, how to take discrimination power is always followed. What should I do?
[Coincidental]
As I mentioned earlier, it means that it has become somewhat easier compared to the previous year's CSAT, and it is difficult to say that it is a test with lower absolute difficulty except for probability, statistics, and these subjects. However, in the case of Korean language and mathematics, high-ranking students may be discriminated according to one or two questions such as common subjects or elective subjects.
However, since ultra-high difficulty questions were excluded this year, in this respect, the top ranks have probably weakened their discrimination power slightly compared to the previous year. However, as I said earlier, there were some questions on the medium-high-level difficulty level, so it can be evaluated that the discrimination power of upper-middle-level students is secured.

Graphically, it also analyzes the prospect of the first-grade cut line for each subject according to the entrance examination analysis company. There were also unique questions for each subject. In particular, the question that has become a hot topic is that the word noise appeared 45 times in one fingerprint in the Korean language area.
[Coincidental]
In fact, there were unusual questions, but questions that students are really picky about were also asked this year. To tell you a few things, in the case of Korean, there is a reading part. Question 7 with a lot of information to check in that reading part. And question 8, which has to be connected by applying the keywords, was tricky. Also, question 13 seems to have difficulty in solving problems for students.
However, the questions such as the technical papers on noise removal of the diffusion model and the social papers on defamation of Internet IDs were unusual questions, but these are the texts that students saw in the EBS SAT special lecture.
Therefore, it is difficult for students to say that this is a difficult question because the questions are generally plain. Questions about medieval Korean notation in language and media, these things seem to have been difficult for students. In the case of the English section, as in the past, questions 32 and 33, which are blank reasoning types, 36 which are sequential arrangements, and 38 which are related to sentence insertion, were considered difficult questions.

Listening to the director's explanation, I think the CSAT must have been difficult this time. There were difficult questions in the math field, too?
[Coincidental]
In fact, it was a little easy in the case of common subjects. Overall, it was easier than the previous year, but even in common subjects, questions 14 or 20, which use trigonometric functions to identify the conditions for the maximum area of a triangle, may have been difficult for students to solve.
In the elective course, probability and statistics and question 30 were difficult. In the case of calculus, questions 28, 29, and 30 probably felt tricky. In particular, in the case of question 30, it is highly likely that question 30 in the calculus was very difficult for students because they had to find a trigonometric function and use the nature of the function to find a value.

Anyway, the college entrance exam is over now. Test takers need to come up with a strategy to apply from now on. What should I do first?
[Coincidental]
The first thing our students should do right now is that they scored. Since I scored a provisional score quickly, I have to determine whether I meet the minimum score for the CSAT first. I think the first priority should be whether or not to take the essay or interview starting this weekend by determining whether or not to meet the minimum of the CSAT.
[Anchor]
As you said, college-specific exams will also begin on the weekend, so how should students who applied for essay writing or interview prepare?
[Coincidental]
In general, many experts and I, too, should go to essay writing regardless of whether you meet the minimum level of the CSAT. Go for an interview. From experience, people say it's not bad to go. Anyway, in the case of essay writing, each university has a standardized essay writing system or type.
That's why students quickly judge the university that they applied for essay writing. Then, it seems that it is most desirable to prepare through previous thesis or mock thesis. Most of the interviews are comprehensive student-affiliated interviews. The student department comprehensive screening interview is called a document-based interview. That's why I'll take a closer look at my student record once again. It seems most desirable to write a list of expected questions and practice mock interviews with friends.
[Anchor]
What should I prepare for students who want to apply for regular admissions if I don't want to apply for regular admissions?
[Coincidental]
I'll apply for regular admissions if I do. I don't think there's anything to prepare because I already used it in the curriculum. In the case of these friends, the first thing to do at this time is to thoroughly analyze the recruitment guidelines and closely analyze them.
In particular, there are a lot of changes and variables this year. Therefore, in the case of students, there are areas of reflection of the SAT, the ratio of reflection by area, and additional points, so it is necessary to carefully check the recruitment guidelines of the university they are aiming for.
[Anchor]
This time, you pointed out that there are many variables, and the most important of them is that the application rate of N students was the highest in 21 years. Will the high N aquatic rate affect it?
[Coincidental]
I think it depends on the meaning. The number of N students increased by 2042 this year compared to the previous year, when the number of N students was the highest ever. However, the reason for the increase can be attributed to the increase in the number of top natural science students who have expectations to pass according to the medical school application. A lot of people simply say this. The N aquatic population has increased. Then N students will have an advantage over the current students.
[Anchor]
That's right. They took the test.
[Coincidental]
That's what people generally think. However, if you look at this year from a different perspective, there was a lot of increase in enrolled students this year. This year, the number of enrolled students increased by more than 14,000 compared to the previous year. Then I'm sure there are some students who have good grades.
That's why students are not disadvantaged simply because the number of N students has increased in a dichotomous way. So, whether you are a top N student or a student, if you establish the best strategy according to your grades, you will probably get a positive effect.
[Anchor]
I think there will be top students and middle and upper students, so shouldn't each of us plan our strategies according to our scores anyway? What strategies are needed?
[Coincidental]
I think it's more important this year than a strategy, depending on which variables I should fit into it. In the case of top students, I think the most important thing is to increase the number of medical students. Therefore, according to the increase in medical schools, students at the top of the list should consider which medical school to apply to.
You'll have to establish a strategy like that. Another point of view is that if you try to apply for medical school, classmates, especially top engineering colleges, will apply for medical school again, wouldn't that part be hollowed out? Then the students in the next group will try to fill it in again.
Because of such a variable, the top-ranked students are likely to show an upward or belief support trend centered on the semi-subject. The number of students in the middle ranks who are probably called "talkies" has increased. I think I'll be affected by this more. That's why many students have a lot of free majors and no majors.
Then there will be expectations for passing. I think I'll pass if there are a lot of people. Therefore, there is a possibility that middle-ranking students will also apply their beliefs or upward support. On the contrary, as the number of free majors increased, the number of departments selected as existing departments decreased significantly.
In the case of Kookmin University, for example, in the case of mechanical engineering, 50 people were selected in the previous year, but only 10 people were selected this year. Also, students who want to apply for a department may avoid such a department because the number of applicants has decreased so much. That's why in the case of middle-ranking students, I think this walkie-talkie, called the major self-determination system, is the key to applying or developing strategies.
[Anchor]
The exam is over.I think the entrance examination is just starting now. I hope the test takers cheer up until the end. I was with Woo Yeon-cheol, head of the College Entrance Strategy Research Institute. Thank you.
