At around 9:30 a.m. today (19th), a fire broke out at an electronics manufacturing plant on the first basement floor and four floors above ground in Wonwon-dong, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon.
After receiving a report from an official that a fire broke out in the Saengsan-dong on the third floor of the factory, the fire authorities have issued the first stage of response that mobilizes both the personnel and equipment of the competent fire department and are working to extinguish it.
All 60 workers were evacuated and no one was injured so far, but reports were flooded to the fire authorities as black smoke soared.
The fire department explained that 3 out of 30 condenser manufacturing machines are believed to have caught fire, and that dangerous substances such as petroleum and alcohol are stored in outdoor storage outside the factory.
Suwon City sent a safety notice, asking vehicles to detour roads in the area, and nearby citizens to pay attention to safety.
