Dongduk Women's University has decided to temporarily suspend discussions on the transition to co-educational, right?

[Reporter]
Yes, it has been 11 days since students occupied the school building and continued to protest against the discussion of engineering transition.

The jumpers that the students took off are still in the school playground.

Dongduk Women's University said that after a three-hour meeting between Dongduk Women's University's student council and school chiefs from 11 a.m. today, they agreed to temporarily stop discussing the engineering transition.

Earlier, the student council held a general meeting of students and voted for 1,973 students, about one-third of all students, and found that 99% were opposed to the engineering transition.

The school that participated in today's interview reportedly accepted the results as an official opinion from the students.

The school explained that it decided not to discuss the engineering transition further, and that it would issue a statement saying that if discussions resume in the future, they would proceed through consultation with students.

The school's statement is expected to be announced around next week.

What happens to the students occupying the main building?

[Reporter]
An official from Dongduk Women's University said in today's meeting that the student council agreed to lift the occupation of all buildings except the main building and resume the class.

Currently, the graduate building has been organized enough to use classrooms, but the rest of the buildings are expected to be able to resume classes after reorganization.

However, the student council, which occupies the main building, did not make an official position on whether to continue the occupation.

As the meeting between students and the school is scheduled again next Monday morning, discussions on the lifting of the occupation of the main building are expected to take place at this time.

Earlier, the school claimed that up to 5.4 billion won in damage was caused by students' occupation and damage to furniture.

Whether Dongduk Women's University holds students criminally responsible for school facilities and vandalism is expected to have a significant impact on the lifting of occupation of the main building and normalization of the school.
