Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, appealed against the first trial's ruling, which sentenced him to a suspended sentence for violating the Public Official Election Act.

Representative Lee submitted an appeal to the Seoul Central District Court today (21st).

Earlier, CEO Lee was put on trial on charges of making false statements by saying, "I didn't know the late Kim Moon-ki when he was mayor of Seongnam" or "I never played golf together" when he was a presidential candidate.

In the same year, he is also accused of making false statements to the effect that he changed the use of the Baekhyun-dong site under pressure from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport during a parliamentary audit in Gyeonggi-do.

Representative Lee denied the charges during the trial, but the first trial court admitted representative Lee's charges on the 15th and sentenced him to one year in prison and two years of probation.

The prosecution is also expected to appeal tomorrow (22nd), the last day of the appeal deadline, on the grounds of improper sentencing.
