When he found out that his girlfriend had met another man, a pharmacist who assaulted him by threatening to let others know about it was sentenced to prison in the first trial.
The Seoul Eastern District Court sentenced 35-year-old A, who was handed over to trial on charges of injury and coercion, to eight months in prison and three years of probation.
The court said that even if the victim dated another man while dating, A's criminal behavior cannot be justified, but it considered showing an attitude of reflection.
Mr. A is accused of forcing the victim, who was in a relationship in August last year, to send a message to his acquaintances saying, "I met another man while I was dating and broke my ribs by assaulting him several times."
