Although the ruling party has decided to propose a law to support special employment and platform workers who are not subject to the Labor Standards Act, labor circles have expressed opposition, which is expected to cause labor pains in the legislative process.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor plans to push for administrative and financial support so that the Act on Supporting the Underprivileged, which protects freelancers, special employment workers, platform workers, and workers in small workplaces with fewer than five employees, can be well adapted to the field.

Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo also explained at a public briefing initiated by legislation today (26th) that he would expand and reorganize budget projects even before the enactment of the law.

However, the labor community has clearly expressed its opposition, saying that it should move toward expanding the Labor Standards Act instead of enacting a separate law.

The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) said that the first thing to do is to apply the already made law to everyone, and the Federation of Korean Trade Unions also stressed that the government and the government should take legislative measures to expand the protection of the Labor Standards Act and guarantee universal labor rights for workers.
