"Anti-cancer effects found in the extract of a freshwater plant, a filter needle".

2024.11.27 AM 10:34
The National Nakdonggang Institute of Biological Resources said it has applied for a patent for the substance after discovering the effect of inhibiting the proliferation of colorectal cancer cells in fertilizer, a native freshwater plant.

The researchers explained that after treating colorectal cancer cells with cell mass (calus) extract from the filter needle, the survival rate of colorectal cancer cells fell to 50.9% of the control group, and a proliferation inhibition effect was observed.

It was estimated that the filter needle extract increased the expression of anticancer proteins that induce cancer cell death.

The needle is an annual plant belonging to the needle flower family and grows in humid places around streams or rivers.
