As the Yeouido Council, which used to be a window for dialogue between the government and the medical community, ran aground 20 days after its launch, the legislative conflict faced a foggy phase again.

According to the results of the new presidential election of the Korean Medical Association, which began today (2nd), the level of struggle against the government is expected to be determined in the future.

The Korean Medical Association, the largest medical organization operating under the emergency committee system, has launched the next presidential election.

After receiving two days of candidate registration, a three-day vote will be held from the 2nd of next month to elect a new chairman.

So far, Kang Hee-kyung, a professor at Seoul National Medical University, and Kim Taek-woo, president of the National Council of Doctors of the Metropolitan Area, Lee Dong-wook, president of Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Association, Joo Su-ho, former president of the Korean Medical Association, and Choi Anna, spokesperson of the Korean Medical Association, have officially announced their candidacy.

If the five are classified by disposition, it is a 1-to-4 structure, and even Chairman Kang, who is a moderate, is prioritizing the change in the government's attitude.

This is why it is not easy to expect the restoration of parliamentary dialogue as soon as possible amid the negative news that the Yeouido Council, which deals with the resolution of the parliamentary conflict, has been suspended in three weeks.

In addition, Park Dan, the head of the medical association's emergency committee, repeatedly insisted that the suspension of medical school recruitment in 2025 was the best, but a high-ranking official in the presidential office said in a phone call with YTN that the responsibility and damage that did not return despite numerous opportunities were the responsibility of medical doctors and medical students.

We are interested in whether the next executive branch of the Korean Medical Association, which will be elected early next year, will be able to overcome such a sharp difference in perception and provide a driving force for resolving the situation.
