Around the same time, the Liberty Unification Party and the National Movement Headquarters of the Republic of Korea held a rally against the impeachment of President Yoon in Sejong-daero, about 1km away.
Participants holding the Taegeukgi and the American flag said that declaring martial law was a legitimate decision and act of governance, not a civil war, adding that they would continue to speak out to block the president's impeachment.
Police have installed iron fences and other facilities everywhere in preparation for possible clashes between the two sides, and have also strengthened security near the Constitutional Court, where the impeachment trial will be held.
