Lee Jae-myung Appoints Lawyer for 'Remittance to North Korea' in Second Trial for Violation of Election Law

2025.01.07 AM 11:34
Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, has appointed a lawyer in the case of "suspected remittance to North Korea" as a lawyer to respond to the appeals court for violating the Public Official Election Act.

Lawyer Lee Chan-jin and lawyer Woo Dae-hoon, who have been in charge of CEO Lee's remittance case to North Korea, submitted a letter of appeal to the Seoul High Court yesterday (6th).

The selection of public defenders will be canceled as CEO Lee appointed a private lawyer.

Earlier on November 15 last year, Lee received one year in prison and two years of probation, which is equivalent to the loss of his parliamentary seat, in the first trial on charges of violating the election law.

Since then, both Lee and the prosecution have appealed against the first trial, and the Seoul High Court will hold Lee's first trial on the 23rd.
