Zelensky "If Trump takes office, the war will end earlier"

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky predicted that the war between Russia and Ukraine could end earlier if U.S. President-elect Donald Trump takes office.

"We must do our best to ensure that the war ends in a diplomatic way next year," Zelensky said in a Ukrainian radio interview broadcast on the 16th local time.

"I will do everything to make a meeting with Trump," he said, adding that he would only talk to Trump, not to an envoy or adviser.

President Zelensky also admitted that the situation in eastern Ukraine is difficult, and Russia is advancing.

"One of the reasons is that the U.S. Congress delayed months in approving Ukraine aid," he said. "But now a new reserve with long-awaited equipment will arrive."
