G7 "Russia Will Make Ukraine Pay for Invasion"

The Group of Seven major economies, the Group of Seven, has warned of continued sanctions, saying they will make Russia pay a harsh price for invading Ukraine.

"Russia is the only obstacle to a just and lasting peace," the G7 said in a joint statement adopted three days before Russia's invasion of Ukraine on the 16th local time.

"The G7 affirms its commitment to make Russia pay a harsh price through sanctions, export controls and other effective measures," he said. "We are united with Ukraine."

The war in Ukraine, which began on February 24 last year with Russia's invasion, will mark its 1,000th day on the 19th.
