Biden to "impact" on Xi Jinping to prevent him from sending additional troops to North Korea

U.S. President Joe Biden has urged Chinese President Xi Jinping to exert influence on North Korea and Russia to prevent North Korea from sending additional troops to Russia.

White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan made the remarks at a briefing on the outcome of bilateral talks with President Xi held in the wake of the APEC summit in Lima, Peru.

Sullivan said President Biden stressed that China has influence and capabilities over North Korea and Russia and that it should be used to prevent escalation of conflict and to prevent the spread of conflict through additional North Korean troop dispatch.

President Biden also pointed out that North Korea-Russia military cooperation, which has been intensified by North Korea's dispatch, is a very dangerous development and emphasized that it increases the possibility of North Korea's direct provocations, missile launches, and seventh nuclear tests.
