U.S. President Biden has expressed his negative stance on Trump's plan to impose tariffs on Mexico and Canada.
Mexico's president, who spoke to Trump the day before, said there would be no tariff war with the United States, drawing attention to whether a behind-the-scenes agreement has been reached.

Earlier, Trump said crime and drugs were pouring in through Mexico and Canada, and that he would impose 25% tariffs on all products imported from both countries until they were resolved.
He then nominated Greer, who was at the forefront of the "tariff war" in the first administration, as the head of the trade representative, signaling that the "tariff bomb" would not stop at words.
Mexico's President Sheinbaum, whose feet were on fire, spoke directly to Trump.
At the press conference that followed, President Sheinbaum said he did not discuss tariffs in detail, but predicted that there would be no tariff war.

Regarding the tariff controversy, the U.S. Democratic Party has introduced a bill to ban unilateral tariffs by the president.
However, the U.S. media predicts that the bill is unlikely to be passed because both the House and Senate are Republicans in the Congress, which will open in early January next year.
