Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said he is willing to talk to Elon Musk X owner, who has taken a critical stance over a bill that would ban teenagers under the age of 16 from using social media altogether.
When asked in an interview with Australia's public ABC today (1st), "Are you ready to talk to Musk about the social media ban?" Prime Minister Albany replied, "We will talk to anyone."
He also emphasized that "the bill will be implemented without fail," and that "the parliament passed the bill with overwhelming approval."
Earlier at the end of last month, the Australian Parliament passed the world's first legislation to completely ban the use of social media under the age of 16.
The bill calls for fines on the platform if children and teenagers under the age of 16 create accounts on TikTok and Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Reddit, and X.
Musk then posted on X, criticizing the move, saying, "It appears to be an expedient to control all Australians' access to the Internet."
