President Yoon Suk Yeol's impeachment suspended him from office, raising questions about whether the pro-nuclear policy pursued by the South Korean government can be maintained, Bloomberg reported.

Bloomberg said on the 17th local time that President Yoon's suspension puts efforts to expand domestic nuclear reactor construction and nuclear technology exports at risk of being delayed along with oil and gas exploration and drilling projects on the east coast.

Bloomberg said Asia's fourth-largest economy has promised to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030, adding that the emergency has complicated the situation.

Bloomberg said Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party of Korea, who is considered a strong candidate for the next presidential election, is considered a climate-friendly figure.

Bloomberg said all eyes are on the Constitutional Court's impeachment trial and predicted that it could delay the National Assembly's approval of Korea's long-term energy roadmap plan.
