China Resumes Australian Lobster Imports...The four-year trade war period.

China lifted a ban on Australian lobster imports, effectively ending a more than four-year trade dispute between the two countries.

Australian Agriculture Minister Julie Collins said at a press conference on the 20th that China had lifted its last ban on lobster imports.

Before China stopped imports, more than 1,600 tons, or 98 percent of Australian lobsters, were exported to China every year.

Earlier in 2018, Australia joined the U.S. ranks of China's checks, banning China's Huawei from participating in 5G networks, and calling for an international investigation into the origins of COVID-19 in 2020.

In response, China banned imports or imposed retaliatory tariffs on Australian coal and about $15 billion worth of Australian goods, including beef, barley, wine and lobsters.

Then, as the Labor Party government entered through the 2022 Australian general election, the trade dispute between the two countries was thawed and various export regulations were lifted one by one.
