The U.S. Congress held a joint session of the House and Senate to officially certify President-elect Donald Trump's victory in the presidential election.
Vice President Kamala Harris, who lost the presidential election to Trump, presides over the meeting in her capacity as Senate president and says Trump has secured 312 of the 538 electors in the vote.
He also announced that he received 226 votes, mentioning his name.
Vice President Harris then officially certified Trump as the 47th president.
At the joint session of the House and Senate, lawmakers from the ruling and opposition parties took turns reporting the results of state-specific electors' votes, and there were no objections in the process.
In an earlier post on social media, Trump said Congress today certifies our great victory and that it is a huge moment in history.
