'Argentina's Trump' Milay attends Trump's inauguration ceremony on the 20th

Argentina's President Javier Milay decided to visit the U.S. as his first foreign trip this year and attend the inauguration of U.S. President Donald Trump, Argentine media reported.

Local media Perpil said Milay originally planned to visit Israel and Switzerland in January, but when Trump invited him to the president's inauguration on the 20th, he canceled his trip to Israel and chose to go to the U.S.

Most of the leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, are likely to miss Trump's invitation to the inauguration, but President Milley is said to have gladly accepted.President Milley, dubbed the 'Trump of Argentina'

, has openly expressed his respect for Trump since he was a presidential candidate, and in February last year, he met with Trump for about a minute in the U.S. and prayed for his election, saying, "Let's meet as president next time."

After the U.S. presidential election, he also visited Mar-a-Lago, Florida, where Trump's home is located, and met Trump for the first time as a foreign leader and chatted for about 10 minutes.

Argentina, which will have to repay 32 trillion won worth of foreign debt and interest this year, is seeking to introduce new loans from the IMF, or the International Monetary Fund, and expects Trump's ties with Milay to help negotiate with the IMF.
